Snorkelling Under 8's
Get ready to explore beneath the surface! This Snorkelling Session introduces children to the basic skills and safety essentials of snorkelling in a safe, supervised pool environment. Kids will learn how to use a mask, snorkel, practice breathing techniques, and gain confidence moving through the water. It’s the perfect first step for young explorers ready to discover the underwater world safely and with fun!

Snorkelling Over 8's
This intermediate snorkelling session is designed for children who are comfortable in the water and ready to build on the basics. Participants will refine their mask clearing, snorkel breathing, while learning how to control buoyancy and navigate more confidently underwater. With a focus on safety, technique, and underwater awareness, this session helps young snorkellers become more skilled, independent, and ready for open water adventures.

Canoe Paddling
Gain confidence in a canoe and learn how to paddle a canoe with different strokes and positions. Ages 8+

Inflatables
Inflatable obstacle courses take over the outdoor 50m pool. It’s big fun for kids, youth, and anyone who loves a challenge.
Get ready to race your friends, test your balance, and see if you can make it to the finish without a splash.
Poolside Pages
Follow along as the adventure unfolds, moving through the water just like the characters. Bring your friends and turn the pool into your own storybook adventure.
No bookings needed, just normal pool entry and a big imagination.
Float-In Movie Night
Movie night but make it splashy! Bring your favourite floatie, kick back in the pool, and enjoy a magical cinema experience like no other.

Inflatable Day Party
Get ready for a full day of action as our giant inflatables take over the outdoor 50m pool!
From 10am to 3pm, test your speed, balance, and bravery as you climb, slide, and bounce your way across the floating course.
Tickets: $8 per person
Big Summer Bash
Make a splash at Makino’s Summer Bash! Enjoy an evening of pool inflatables, games, music, food, and giveaways.
Bring the whānau (all ages welcome) and soak up the summer vibes. Cool Off, Soak Up the Fun, and Celebrate Summer Together

Emergency Management Day
Join us for a day of fun, learning and emergency preparedness!
We're hosting a Scavenger Hunt across the Manawatu Community Hub Library, Makino Aquatic Centre, and the Manawatū District Council.
Starting at MCHL, you’ll explore each location to discover key emergency preparedness tips, gather helpful items, and complete challenges. Learn practical steps to keep yourself and your family safe in case of natural disasters, all while having a great time!
At Makino, we’ll be focusing on Grab Bags and Natural Disasters. Come find out what essentials you should have packed in case of an emergency. From food and water to first aid supplies, we’ll help you build the ultimate emergency grab bag to keep you prepared for anything.
Water/Boat Safety
Learn how to stay safe and confident around water with our fun, hands-on Water & Boat Safety session!
Kids will hop into real-life rescue scenarios, practice wearing lifejackets and discover how to make smart, safe choices on and around boats.
A great mix of learning and fun, helping young swimmers become water-wise adventurers!
Rescue Ready! Emergency Activity Experience
Are you ready for anything? Join our exciting hands-on experience where kids become mini emergency heroes!

Beach Bubbles
Little ones will love this bubbly beach party! Join us in the toddler pool for a fun-filled session of bubbles, music, and dancing.
Perfect for preschoolers, this mini pool party is all about giggles, movement, and summertime fun - no big kids allowed!
Raft Building
Team up, get creative, and put your building skills to the test in our Raft Building challenge!
Use your materials wisely to design, build, and float your very own raft - will it sink or will it sail?
Slip & Slide, Bomb Comp Practice
Make a splash outside with our ultimate summer fun afternoon!
Take on the slippery Slip ’n Slide, show off your best bombs in the pool during our Bomb Comp Trials, and enjoy plenty of outdoor games and laughter along the way.
It’s all about good vibes, big splashes, and friendly competition - perfect for kids (and the young at heart)!
