Booking Terms & Conditions of Hire
By confirming a booking at Makino Aquatic Centre, the hirer acknowledges and agrees that they and all participants associated with the booking will comply with the following Terms and Conditions of use:
General
- The Makino Aquatic Centre (Makino) reserves all rights and priority to all available space.
- The Makino Swim School is the only swim school that has the right to operate at the Makino.
- The Makino does not allow 'Private Swim School' operation.
- Only affiliated Clubs can operate at the Makino Aquatic Centre.
- 'Swim Camps' can only operate on weekends or during the 'Summer Period'.
- The Makino reserves the right to cancel/change any roll over/long term bookings made in advance should the demand for space for Makino Bookings arise.
- We aim to respond to all bookings within 48 hours (weekdays) or 72 hours (weekends). All booking enquiries and forms must be emailed to makino@mdc.govt.nz. All bookings are accepted at the discretion of the Makino. The Makino's decision is final and no negotiation will be entered into.
- Admission is included for the swimmers associated with the hirer's booking only for the location specified in the booking. Any swimmers that wish to swim before/after or in a different location to the booking, are required to pay their own admission.
- Unless an Entire Complex booking is made, the Makino will remain open to the public for all other available areas of business.
- All users associated with the 'booking' must identify themselves at reception upon arrival.
- Children under the age of 8 must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or older at all times. Children under 5 must be within arm's reach and actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years or over. Caregivers must accompany them in all pools, except shallow toddler pools.
- All persons must comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Manawatu District Council health and safety policies, and signage when using the Makino Aquatic Centre.
- All equipment used during the period of hire must be returned to the correct place at the end of the hire period and in its original condition.
- Bookings will be accepted on a first in first served basis.
- Food may be brought onto the premises. All drinks must be non-alcoholic. There is to be no glass of any kind. The Makino does not have any refrigerators or freezers for use, please plan accordingly.
- The Makino is not liable for any loss or damage associated to belongings/equipment of the hirer or of persons associated with the booking.
- Approved swimwear is to be worn in the pools. For the safety of our customers, swim nappies are required to be worn by children who are not competently toilet trained. Regular nappies are prohibited in pools. Please shower before entering the water.
- There is to be no smoking and or vaping on the facility premises.
- All groups/organisations must have a contact person, who is reponsible for the group (and the premises, if hired after hours) for the duration of the hire.
- It is the responsibility of the hirer to relay the 'Terms and Conditions' and 'Rules and Guidelines' to all people associated to their booking.
- All incidents occurring on the facility grounds must be reported to a Makino staff member as soon as possible.
- After use, and before leaving the premises, the hirer must clean, remove food and personal items and place all rubbish in provided bins.
- The hirer is liable for all damages that occur to the Makino facility or Makino equipment as a result of the hiring groups' actions.
- The hirer shall covenant, promise and agree to not hold the Makino liable for any loss or damage associated to belongings/equipment of the hirer or of persons associated with the booking.
- All bookings must be paid in full on the day unless credit approval is given prior to the booking. If you require credit for your booking, please contact the Makino for an application form. Otherwise, please ensure that your group pays in one individual payment on arrival.
- All invoices (which have been approved by prior arrangement must be paid for in full by the 20th of the month following the date of invoice. Any unpaid invoices will be managed by Manawatu District Council. The hirer will be liable for all associated fees and any other costs associated with this debt collection.
- Failure to pay in alignment with Council policies will result in services being terminated.
- The Makino reserves the right to remove any 'user' or 'swimmer' from the facility if they are deemed to be exhibiting inappropriate / unsafe / unlawful behaviour. This could include, but is not limited to language, spitting, bullying, damage, failure to follow lifeguard instructions, etc. This could result in the booking being cancelled. No refund will be given for any booking cancellation.
- The Makino will issue trespass notices for serious behaviour breaches.
- The hirer must give at least 48 hours' notice of cancellation for regular bookings, or 5 days' notice of cancellation for full pool/complex bookings. Verbal cancellation must be followed up with a written cancellation within the afore mentioned timeframes. Any bookings cancelled with less than the appropriate notice will incur a 50% charge of the booking cost.
- Every effort will be made by the Makino to aviod cancelling any confirmed booking. However in the event of an emergency/situation out of our control of the Makino, a booking may be cancelled. The Makino will attempt to re-schedule the booking to the next convenient available time. Should re-scheduling not be possible, a refund will be given.
- Refunds will be processed in accordance with Manawatu District Council's policies and in line with their financial pay runs.
- The Makino reserves the right to cancel any booking if the details provided are false or misleading. The Makino's decision is final and no negotiation will be entered into.
