Summer Bash Makes a Splash!

Beach balls were bouncing, music was pumping, and laughter was heard around the indoor pools as the Makino Aquatic Centre (MAC) turned up the fun over the January school holidays with its first ever Summer Bash. With the weather sending the party indoors, families still soaked up the summer vibes, no sunblock required for a high energy evening full of splashes, and good times.

Around 200 people made waves at the event, proving once again that Makino Aquatic Centre is a vibrant, and friendly place to be. From the moment guests walked through the doors and into MAC’s signature summer-themed decorations, the mood was set for an event of family fun.

The Summer Bash was delivered in collaboration with the Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL) Dive into Reading Summer Programme.  Children who completed the reading challenge received free entry to the event. It was a perfect match celebrating learning while finishing summer with a splash.

Renee Dunbar, Aquatic Programmes Leader at Makino Aquatic Centre, said: "The turnout on the evening was fantastic. Seeing families laughing, swimming, and enjoying themselves is exactly what the MAC is all about. Events like Summer Bash show how much fun our centre can be and how important it is as a place for the community to come together."

Running from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, the evening was filled with water play, swimming, giant inflatables, giveaways, and a DJ who kept the good vibes flowing. Kids splashed, bounced, and danced their way through an unforgettable summer celebration.

Makino Aquatic Centre would like to thank everyone who came along and helped make the Summer Bash such a success. With such a positive response from the community, plans are already under way for more school holiday activities in April so keep an eye out for more chances to jump in and enjoy the fun at the MAC.
