Ready, Set, Smile!
Makino Aquatic Centre (MAC) is counting down to the opening of its outdoor pool on 12 October with a fun new way for the community to get involved. The Countdown to Summer Photo Challenge invites visitors to capture a holiday memory, share a smile and help celebrate the arrival of another summer season at the MAC.
Located in the reception area, the themed photo board was created to enhance the visitor experience and provide a fun keepsake opportunity for people of all ages. Featuring the slogan "Another Amazing Day at the Makino" and three face holes ready to be filled, the board encourages families, friends and visitors to strike a pose and share their best photo.
Aquatics Activity Leader Catherine Todd said the competition was designed to bring the community into the excitement surrounding the outdoor pool opening. "We're really looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another outdoor pool season and wanted a way to share that excitement with our community. The photo board gives people the opportunity to create a fun memory from their visit and take something special away with them. We can't wait to see the photos and smiles that come through over the holidays."
Visitors can enter by taking a photo at the board and sending it via Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or email to makino@mdc.govt.nz. Entries can be funny, creative or simply capture a moment. By entering the competition, participants agree that their photos may be used in Makino promotional material and shared across Makino's communication channels.
One lucky winner will receive a Makino Summer Starter Pack, including a swim cap, goggles, family swim passes and a selection of summer-themed goodies.
The competition opens on 28 September, closes on 10 October, and the winner will be announced on 12 October, the same day the outdoor pool opens for the season.
