Outdoor Pool Season at the MAC is Nearly Here!

Longer days, warmer weather, and the promise of outdoor pool fun are signs summer is on its way! Behind the scenes, the Makino Aquatic Centre (MAC) team & contractors are hard at work preparing the outdoor pools for another season of swimming.

The outdoor pools are currently undergoing maintenance, with surfaces being sanded and repainted to keep them looking fresh, safe, and ready for action. Staff are also completing checks and ensuring the outdoor area is in top shape when the gates reopen.

Aquatic Services Manager, Aimee Flanders says it’s all about creating the best possible experience for the community. “Our outdoor pools are such an important part of summer in Feilding,” she says. “This maintenance work is essential to keep the facilities in great condition, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to enjoy the space.”

Once open, visitors can once again look forward to free BBQs, plenty of shaded seating, children’s playground and sunscreen stations bridging the essentials for a great day out in the sun. Whether you are diving in or swimming laps, splashing with the kids, or enjoying a picnic on the grass, the outdoor area has something for everyone.

The team is also putting the finishing touches on the summer timetable, including learn-to-swim lessons, aqua fitness classes, and school holiday activities. There’s always a special buzz around the Centre as the outdoor season approaches. “It’s a place where families relax, kids play, and the community comes together. We love seeing it come to life every summer,” Flanders says.

With work underway, it won’t be long before the outdoor pools reopen in December, and the sound of laughter fills the air once again. So, grab your togs and get ready for summer fun at the MAC - it is just around the corner!
