Make This Your Best Summer
The January School Holiday Programme has launched, bringing together the perfect mix of family fun to keep tamariki active, confident, and smiling all summer long. From underwater exploration with snorkelling sessions to hands-on water and boat safety lessons, canoe paddling, slip & slide afternoons, and bomb competition practice, the holidays are set to be overflowing with excitement.
Children can also take part in an interactive Emergency Management Scavenger Hunt in collaboration with Manawatū Community Hub Libraries, and the Manawatū District Council, where individuals or groups can pick up practical safety skills while completing fun challenges along the way.
The outdoor 50m pool transforms daily from 1pm to 3pm with the return of our giant inflatables always a crowd favourite and families won’t want to miss the splashy Float-In Movie Night, featuring Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action), complete with popcorn and a fizzy drink. The summer highlight is the Big Summer Bash. An event set to bring the community together for an evening of games, giveaways, food, music, and giant inflatables, perfect for all ages to celebrate the best of summer.
Aquatic Programmes Leader, Renee Dunbar, says “There’s nothing better than seeing families enjoying the outdoor pool area in the sunshine. Our summer programme is full of energy, learning, and fun, and I can’t wait to see our community making memories here.”
With a strong focus on water safety, inclusiveness, and unforgettable experiences, Makino Aquatic Centre’s summer holiday programming delivers fun for the whole whānau.
