Makino’s Swim Carnival Success
The cheers and anticipation started early around the pool as the races began. On Saturday, 22 November, the Makino Aquatic Centre came to life for its first-ever Swim Carnival, filled with families and the shared excitement of swimmers ready to show what they could do.
Makino Swim School students embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm. Usually focused on building strong technique and essential water-safety skills, they took up the chance to demonstrate their progress in a fun, competitive yet supportive setting.
Swimmers took on a variety of events, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick, butterfly drills, and the individual medley. Energy peaked during the freestyle and novelty relays, giving supporters plenty to enjoy. To top it all off, spectators watched MAC swim instructors race one another at the very end.
Aquatic Programmes Leader Renee Dunbar, who organised the event, was thrilled with the turnout and looks forward to making the carnival a regular feature of the swim school calendar.
Parents, caregivers, and volunteers brought fantastic positivity to the day, and the Makino Aquatic Centre extends a big thank-you for their support.
Another massive thank-you also goes to our sponsors Aqualine, Francis Water & Drainage and Speedo for their generous prizes and support.
To every swimmer who took part and gave it their best, the MAC team are so proud of you. The MAC is all about creating opportunities and celebrating our growing swimming community, and this carnival is just the beginning.
