Makino Aquatic Centre Wins with Rural Flair

Feathers, fur, and fun stole the show with a prize-winning Rural Day display to remember. Available to see over these September school holidays, the Makino Aquatic Centre has taken out the top prize for their creative display and won $3,000 worth of radio advertising on The Breeze.

The display was the vision of Renee Dunbar, Aquatic Programmes Leader, who is new to the role and is already making waves. With the help of colleagues, including Aquatic Operations and Maintenance Leader, Richard Dowers, who built the pen for their star attraction, the effort came together as a true team triumph.

Visitors and judges were charmed by the rustic display, which features hay bales, a vegetable patch and animal inflatables. However, it was Pippa the lamb and orphaned ducklings, Peanut Butter and Jelly, that truly stole the spotlight. These furry and feathered guests captured hearts, plenty of photos and they received endless pats.

“This award highlights the creativity and dedication of the Makino team. We are proud to bring a touch of rural flair to our community and honoured to be recognised for it.” Says Renee Dunbar, Aquatic Programmes Leader

The Makino Aquatic Centre will keep the celebrations rolling with its Yeehaw! Rural Disco Pool Party on this Friday 26 September, from 4pm to 6pm. Tickets are just $8 and include pool inflatables, games, prizes, food and plenty of fun.
