Makino Aquatic Centre are pleased to bring a Fun Day, DOGS IN TOGS! This splashtastic annual event will be held on Saturday 20th April 2024 at the Makino Aquatic Centre.

Session times:

  • New session added!!  10am-11am: Large Dogs Extra Session!!
  • 11am-12pm: Small Dogs (under 12Kg)
  • 12pm-1pm: Medium Dogs (12Kg - 20Kg)
  • 1pm-2pm: Large Dogs (20Kg +) SOLD OUT

Limited numbers for each session - be sure to arrive early and have your dog on a lead. Registration is a must for all canine companions and owners upon arrival, and don't forget those vaccinations.

This event is for sociable dogs only & dogs remain the responsibility of the owner at all times.

Get your furry friend ready for a tail-wagging good time! Coffee cart will be on-site.

We have Rules and Guidelines for the day, which are listed below:

  • On arrival, all dogs/owners must go through a registration process. Once registered, dogs will receive a coloured swim band (to be attached to dog’s collar).
  • Limit to 1 x dog per owner. Each owner to be fully responsible for their own dog.
  • Dogs must have current Council registration and be microchipped.
  • Dogs must be vaccinated. During the event registration process owners need to provide proof that their dog’s core vaccinations are up to date. On the day, please present vaccination book or a report from your vet as proof.
  • Dogs must arrive on leads.
  • Owners are responsible for their own dog waste (owners to bring doggy waste bags).
  • Dogs are not permitted inside – the event is restricted to the Outdoor Complex. A tie-up area with drinking water to be provided by MAC for if owners need to use toilet facilities in the indoor complex.
  • Public swimming – the outdoor complex will be closed for public swimming. Any public wanting to swim will be directed to the indoor complex. During this event the only members of public who will have access to the outdoor complex are those who are bringing a dog to the event and have gone through the registration process on arrival.
  • No spectators at event – any children attending must be under constant supervision of the adult they have arrived with.
  • Dogs classified as dangerous or menacing under the Dog Control Act 1996 are not permitted at this event.
  • This event is for sociable dogs only (not suitable for dogs who do not interact well with strangers or other dogs).
  • Rear access (off Church street) to be used for this event.
  • Car parking available at rear access by the Mini Golf/Church. Overflow parking available at the Salvation Army.
  • No food at the event.
  • Owners to swim at their own risk – please be aware the outdoor pools are not chlorinated for this event. If you chose to swim you are encouraged to keep your head above water
  • MAC staff reserve the right to ask an owner to remove themselves and their dog at any time if behaviour is deemed unacceptable.
  • A Flyer detailing rules and guidelines for the day will be given to each owner during event registration on the day.
