Development Squad
Pre-competition level; move on from Learn to Swim by joining the Makino's Development Squad.

Junior Squad
Pre-competition level; move on from the Development Squad by joining the Makino’s Junior Squad.
Participants are expected to be able to swim Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke for 100m competently, and at least 25m Butterfly.
Participants would typically swim at least 1km in each training session.

Intermediate (B) Squad
Pre-competition level; move on from the Junior Squad by joining the Makino’s Intermediate (B) Squad.
Participants are expected to be able to competently swim 400m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and Breaststroke and at least 50m in Butterfly.
Participants would typically swim at least 2km in each training session.

Intermediate (A) Squad
Competition level; move on from the Intermediate (B) Squad by joining the Makino’s Intermediate (A) Squad and start competing in swim meets.
Participants are expected to be able to competently swim 400m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and Breaststroke and at least 50m in Butterfly.
Participants would typically swim at least 2km in each training session.
Participants are expected to start competing in swim meets with the direction of the Squad Coach.

Competition level; move on from the Intermediate (A) Squad by joining the Makino's Senior (B) Squad.
Participants are expected to have an understanding of competitive swimming terminology and compete at competitive grade swim meets.
Participants must attend a minimum of 2 out of 3 training sessions a week and would typically swim at least 3km in each session.
